As women get older, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, and heredity can cause their breasts to sag lower than they have before. While breast sagging is a fact of life, it does not mean that women simply must let it occur. There are many options available for women that can improve the appearance of breasts and increase a woman's confidence.
Is a breast lift right for me?
A breast lift is a surgical procedure that can address a variety of issues a woman may be facing with her breasts. It can even out breast volume, decrease the appearance of sag, lift and reduce the areolas, and improve the overall appearance and shape of the breast without the addition of implants. Sometimes implants may also be added to add volume and fullness to the upper part of the breast.
The best candidates for a breast lift are women whose breasts hang loosely below the breast fold or those whose breasts appear different from one another.
Depending on the woman's individual needs, there are three different types of breast lift she will be able to consider.
- Traditional breast lift. Best for women with extremely sagging breasts, this type of breast lift will involve an anchor-shaped incision to alter the internal breast tissue.
- Vertical breast lift. Best for women with a moderate sag, this will involve a lollipop shape incision in the breast to provide a little less lift than a traditional breast lift.
- Circumareolar breast lift. Women with mild sag will benefit from this type of breast lift since it will elevate the nipples without rearranging the internal breast tissue.
Depending on the woman's specific aesthetic needs, she may elect to undergo a breast augmentation or reduction in combination with their breast lift to achieve the ultimate appearance.
