Many people know that a great deal of money is spent in the United States on plastic surgery. However, figures show that Americans are also spending vast amounts on
non-surgical treatments such as Juvederm and Botox. Injections, peels, waxing, and wraps are not just for celebrities anymore. Instead, more men and women are seeking these types of procedures to look their best. In fact, it is reported that in 2010, people in the U.S. spent a staggering $10.7 billion on cosmetic procedures. Of that $10.7 billion, $4.1 billion was spent on non-surgical treatments, laser treatments, and skin rejuvenations.

While some people opt to go under the knife, many more are pursuing non-surgical options to enhance their looks and reverse signs of aging. Experts in the plastic surgery industry say this trend is expected to continue, especially among a select demographic – women in their 40s – who want inexpensive and non-invasive options. Do you want to learn more about non-surgical treatments?

Women are not the only patients seeking corrective surgery for their breasts. Over the past few years, more men are opting for plastic surgery to fix what have been labeled as "man breasts." There is a medical condition called "gynecomastia" which is the accumulation of excess fat and/or tissue in the chest region. Men going through puberty can experience this accumulation of fat in the chest region. Older men may also experience gynecomastia as a heredity condition. However, it can also develop due to interactions with certain medications, a fluctuation in weight or hormonal shifts.

Whereas women usually opt for breast augmentation to enhance, men will ask for the opposite,
breast reduction. This is a fairly simple procedure that usually involves
liposuction of the fatty tissues in unwanted areas. Male patients who have had a breast reduction are usually very satisfied with the results, as it may be difficult to reduce chest size with a change in diet and exercise alone. This procedure allows men to feel more comfortable going shirtless and feel more confident in their day-to-day lives. Curious about breast reduction?

News sources say that plastic surgeons across the nation have seen an interesting trend on the rise, and it may not be what you think. While procedures like liposuction and
breast augmentation are still popular, surgeons are seeing more and more people having procedures done with their spouse or partner. One newspaper has reported that this is the fastest growing trend in the field, that couples are increasingly visiting
plastic surgery clinics together and having similar procedures done. In many cases, the couples are opting for joint procedures to commemorate something special, such as a wedding anniversary.

Another trend reported by the Los Angeles Times was an increase in male patients seeking plastic surgery. There appears to be an increased drive to stay young and viable, whether for romantic or business purposes, which men are striving to do with plastic surgery procedures. Experts say that many married men see their wives getting procedures and want to get plastic surgery done as well to appear as youthful as their spouses. Are you considering plastic surgery? Whether you are a man or woman, surgery can lead to great aesthetic improvements.

Fashion has long had an uncomfortable history. From foot binding and corsets to modern-day plastic surgery, some people will do nearly anything to stay beautiful and fashionable. A recent trend has people running to plastic surgeons to have operations – on their feet! Recent studies show that in order to accommodate the ever-increasing height of high heels, some women are getting special surgeries for their feet. These include "toe jobs" and fillers injected into the balls of the feet. While high heels are not new, the spikes have gotten longer over the past few decades. One study showed that more women are wearing heels that are 5" or taller on a regular basis.

Over the past few years, several doctors have declared high heels to be dangerous for your health. They state that it is not natural or healthy to wear shoes that are narrow for your feet and place so much pressure on the balls of feet. Despite the warnings, women are turning to plastic surgery to make the wearing of high heels more bearable. Are you thinking of getting plastic surgery? While our office does not offer "toe jobs", we do offer other procedures such as liposuction,

Despite a lagging economy, people are still turning to plastic surgery for cosmetic procedures. One of these procedures has been growing in popularity over the past few years, surpassing even the most asked-for surgeries such as liposuction and
breast augmentation. "Chin-plants" are keeping plastic surgeons across the country busier than ever, say experts. Since a strong chin line is not something that can be changed through diet and exercise, people who are unhappy with their chins often turn to surgical options.

Despite the common perception, doctors say men are not the only patients that are requesting chin implants as women often seek this procedure as well. Between 2010 and 2011, there was a 71% increase in requests for chin implants. More popular procedures like Botox and
liposuction saw just a 5% increase during the same period. One demographic that has been turning to chin implants with great fervor is patients in their forties. Doctors believe that at this age, patients are on the threshold between middle age and youthfulness, and many patients believe that a defined chin can make the difference between looking younger or older. If you are considering plastic surgery and would like to discuss your surgical options,

Another actress is denying plastic surgery rumors in Hollywood. Despite her recent appearance, Ashley Judd claims that she has had nothing done to her face in the past few months. After several pictures surfaced of Judd with a puffy face, several media outlets started discussing the possibility of injections and other plastic surgery procedures. The actress quickly responded to the rumors by stating that she had a sinus infection. Judd was prescribed steroids to fight the infection, which may have caused her face to appear puffier than usual.

She went on to criticize the reporters who claimed to be able to tell exactly what types of procedures she had had done to her face, stating that the rumors were unfounded. In a recent TV interview, Judd spoke about all of the criticism she has endured during her career, up to her new TV show called "Missing." Judd told reporters that American society has grown very critical of all women, but particularly those in the entertainment industry. Rather than believing that she may be ill, the media was quick to jump to the conclusion that she has had some plastic surgery done in order to appeal in further to the public's vision of beauty.
Surgeon Offers Rhinoplasty to Jewish Community

One plastic surgeon is working hard to ensure that Jewish singles in his community are able to have a robust dating life. He is offering pro-bono nose jobs to those who qualify. Dr. M.S. believes that the reason there may be so many Jewish singles is that their noses are large and unsightly, preventing them from having the confidence to meet "the one." The doctor recently announced that he would give out scholarships to both men and women to get nose jobs at his office. Being a Jewish man himself, he understands how difficult it can be to overcome one's physical appearance to find a soul mate.

This isn't the first time that Dr. S. has found himself at the center of controversy. He recently created a music video specifically about nose jobs that caused quite a stir. He goes on to say that if someone really wants to get married and have children, they may need the extra help that a nose job can provide. In order to qualify, an individual must be referred to the doctor by a matchmaker. The individual must be over the age of 18, be healthy and be working with a rabbi or matchmaker to find their future partner. Are you thinking about rhinoplasty? Whether you want to improve your appearance or alleviate a breathing abnormality,

Despite a slowly recovering economy, plastic surgery is on the rise. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, several procedures have grown in popularity over the past few years and a large segment of plastic surgery patients are mothers. In 2011 alone there were 325,000 "mommy makeovers," a variety of procedures that are meant to restore women to their pre-baby bodies. This usually includes breast augmentations and
liposuction, but can include several other procedures as well. The survey also revealed that if cost were not an issue, 62% of women would elect to have mommy makeovers.

Of the procedures requested by women, breast augmentation remains the most popular. There was an increase in augmentations in 2011 performed by surgeons across America. Many of these patients say that breast surgery help them to not only regain their former bodies, but to help regain confidence about their bodies after the grueling months spent being pregnant. Surgeons say that patients often elect to have the surgeries done before the warmer months in order to wear "revealing clothing" as well as bathing suits.
Americans Spent $10 Billion On Cosmetic Procedures In 2011

New data is in that reveals just how much Americans spent on plastic and cosmetic surgery in 2011. According to statistics reported by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), people in the U.S. spent $10 billion on cosmetic procedures last year. Additionally, ASAPS says that 9.2 million procedures were performed on the American population. These figures mark a 1% increase in non-invasive cosmetic procedures and a 2% decrease in invasive surgeries when compared to the same time period in 2010. While the increase may seem minor, figures are up by 197% when compared to 1997.

ASAPS President, Jeffrey M. Kenkel, MD, said that surgery is making a comeback – but it is a slow comeback. He also said that while many people still seek injectibles to improve their appearances, they want longer lasting results and that is why surgeries are expected to increase in 2012. When asked why so many people are concerned with their appearance, the doctor noted that people need to stay in the workforce longer and must compete with younger colleagues for the same types of jobs. Therefore, looking their best is important.

A plastic surgeon in Mexico is in legal trouble after using a reality TV star's picture without her permission. Kim Kardashian's legal team is already preparing to sue the doctor who used her picture on a billboard. Although the billboard does not claim that the doctor himself performed any surgery on the star, it does use her picture without her permission. The message on the billboard says: "Don't risk your body or your health," with a picture of the star in a bikini. An online source recently contacted the doctor to ask him about the billboard. When asked if he requested Kardashian's permission, he admitted that he hadn't. But when he was informed that he could not use her picture without being granted permission, he reportedly hung up and threatened to call the police.

Since it her representatives state that Kardashian does not endorse a product without explicit approval and funding, the doctor is may face legal action. In the meantime, the billboard remains in place in Mexico promoting the benefits of plastic surgery.

In recent news, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given the nod of approval for a new silicone-gel breast implant made by Sientra. Now, Sientra is the third company that has approval from the FDA to manufacture and sell silicone-gel implants to plastic surgeons in the United States. The company, which is located in California, received approval to market its implants to doctors performing breast implant and augmentation procedures on women who are at least 22 years of age.

According to the company, it will market its implants in several shapes and sizes. Currently, round implants are sold by the other two approved companies which are Johnson & Johnson Mentor and Allergan Inc. Data shows that breast implant procedures are very common in the country. In fact, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that over 307,000 breast augmentation procedures were performed in 2011.

Now that technology has made it easier than ever to connect with friends, family, and colleagues, people are becoming even more aware of their appearances. Thanks to Apple's FaceTime feature, you can see the person you are chatting with via a live video feed. A plastic surgeon in Virginia now offers a procedure that will make you even more attractive during these live chat sessions. The procedure, dubbed a "FaceTime FaceLift," is designed to make you feel better about your appearance while using FaceTime. It targets the neck region, specifically for those users who feel that their necks look flabby or wrinkly on the phone. The doctor goes on to explain that the way you hold your phone while conducting FaceTime can make your neck look fat, heavy or extra-full.

Over the past few years, Dr. Sigal has seen a dramatic rise in patients at his plastic surgery center who want neck lift procedures. He claims that he is making these procedures faster and easier by offering the FaceTime FaceLift, a simple procedure that can have life-changing results.

A lot of people choose to have plastic surgery because they want to eliminate signs of aging, or reduce wrinkles and fine lines. This is why procedures like facelifts and eyelid lifts have become so popular. However, a new study by the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery has revealed that on average, plastic surgery can take away 7.2 years from a patient's face. This is just an average and really dependant on the amount of facial plastic surgery a patient has done.

The study was led by a plastic surgeon in Toronto. He wanted to set expectations for patients before they decided to get plastic surgery done. Aside from the face data, the doctor said that on average, a neck lift will reduce a person's age appearance by 5.7 years. If a patient has a forehead lift, he or she may wipe away 8.4 years in terms of appearance. In order to derive these averages, the doctor asked 40 medical students to guess the ages of female plastic surgery patients based on before and after photos.

Several news sources claim that a plastic surgeon refused to operate on Whitney Houston just weeks before her death. According to reports, Dr. M.M. was approached by the singer as she wanted to have a facelift just two weeks before she passed away. As with any plastic surgery procedure, the doctor reviewed Houston's health. When her medical check led to concerns about her lungs and heart, the doctor said that he refused to operate as it would put Houston at risk for surgical complications.

Just last Saturday, the well-known singer was found inside her hotel room deceased at the Beverly Hilton. When asked about her death, the doctor declined to comment as he said it would violate federal medical privacy laws. At this time, police are not certain what caused Houston's death, but toxicology tests were ordered and preliminary tests showed that she had sedatives in her bloodstream.

This week, news sources announced that in 2011, the number of Americans that had plastic surgery increased for the second year in a row. It seems that despite challenging economic times, more people are visiting plastic surgeons to get cosmetic procedures ranging from rhinoplasty to
non-surgical treatments such as Botox. One source revealed that last year 13.8 million Americans underwent cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures. Compared to 2010, there was a 5% increase in the number of procedures performed.

Of the operations that occurred in 2011, it seems the most popular procedure was breast augmentation. Reports from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons indicate that 307,000 people sought breast augmentation. The second most popular procedure of 2011 was
face lift surgery followed closely by
	liposuction,
tummy tucks, and eyelid surgery. Another type of procedure that was in demand was lip augmentation.
