Oxnard Blepharoplasty Surgeon
Eyelid Plastic Surgeon for Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and San Fernando Valley
Blepharoplasty is a surgical modification of the eyelid. This procedure
can be performed for both functional and cosmetic reasons. Excess tissue
such as skin and fat are removed or repositioned. Also surrounding tendons
and muscles may be strengthened. Blepharoplasty can rejuvenate puffy,
sagging, or tired-looking eyes by the removal of skin, fat, and tissue
in both the upper and lower eyelid. Besides being performed for aesthetic
reasons, it may improve eyesight by lifting droopy lids out of the individual's
field of vision.
Blepharoplasty may be performed in an office with a local anesthesia in
about 45 minutes. It can be combined with other treatments such as a face
lift or non-surgical facial treatments to raise eyebrows, reduce wrinkles,
crow's feet, or dark circles under the eyes.
Blepharoplasty is usually done by making incisions along the natural skin
lines of the eyelids, such as the creases of the upper lids and below
the lashes of the lower lids. The lower eyelid may also be treated without
any external incisions by addressing the excess fat through the inner
surface of the eyelid. The anatomy of the individual's eyelids, age,
skin condition, and adjacent tissue all have an effect on the final outcome
of this surgery. Recovery from this procedure may take up to a few weeks.
