Injectable Skin Treatments
Injectable skin treatments include BOTOX, Juvederm, Prevelle Silk, and Radiesse.
BOTOX, made from a purified protein, relaxes wrinkles to give the face a rejuvenated appearance. When properly injected, patients benefit from smoother skin, elevated brows, and an overall refreshed appearance.
Juvedermis an injectable gel made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen and elastin to give volume and support to the skin. Dr. Gorodisky has developed an virtually painless protocol for these treatments utilizing topical anesthetics, cooling, and nerve blocks for those patients who are especially sensitive or afraid of needles. The new formulation of Juvederm, called Juvederm XC, is now available with a numbing medication mixed into the gel to help make the injection even more comfortable, even without a nerve block. Juvederm may be used to gently reverses lines and wrinkles around the face and mouth, enhance thinning lips, and improve the shape of the face.
Radiesse is calcium based injectable filler that reduces wrinkles, creases, and scars. This product may be used to even out bony irregularities on the face, build up cheek volume, correct nasal deformities, and increase the size and definition of the chin with a simple office treatment and without undergoing a more extensive surgical procedure. It is made of the same minerals found in our bones so it poses little risk to the patients.
Prevelle Silk is hyaluronic acid soft tissue filler containing the local anesthetic lidocaine. It is a treatment which adds volume and fullness to the skin and may be used for injection under the eyes and into the lips.
Latisse is an FDA-approved breakthrough treatment to enhance eyelash prominence by increasing length, thickness, and darkness. It is available at Dr. Gorodisky's office by prescription as a once-daily treatment applied to the base of the upper eyelashes. Patients who use it on a daily basis instead of mascara report longer, thicker, darker lashes in about 6 to 8 weeks of treatment. Continued use is necessary to maintain the results, but the frequency may be decreased based on the desired lash length. Those patients who are concerned with change of eye color when using this medication, may be reassured that this side effect only occurred when the active ingredient in Latisse was applied directly into the eye and not when used as directed for the purpose of lash elongation.
