Things To Know About Eyelift Surgery

Are you thinking about having eyelift surgery?  If so, there are a few things you should know before you move forward with plastic surgery to ensure optimal recovery.

First, if you are prone to having dry eyes, it may be wise to speak with an ophthalmologist prior to your eyelift surgery.  An ophthalmologist can recommend other courses of treatment that may remedy this condition, such as different types of contact lenses.

If you have loose lower eyelids, an additional procedure may be required to tighten this area of your face such as a canthopexy.  This procedure will prevent the lower eyelids from dropping.

After your surgery, it is a good idea to apply cold compresses to your face and eyes.  This may minimize swelling and expedite your recovery.

Finally, you may want to sleep with your head resting on elevated pillows the first few days following your eyelift surgery.  This measure will also minimize swelling.
