With more and more people considering plastic surgery in the United States, surgeons and medical teams are trying to come up with ways to make the choice easier. This desire to help patients has led to the creation of a new technology that allows people to see what they will look like before they undergo procedures, like facelifts or rhinoplasty.
Traditionally, when patients would meet with a plastic surgeon, they would be shown before-and-after photos of other people who had undergone procedures. While this was helpful, it didn't really give patients an impression of what they might look like after their surgeries.
The new device is a 3D imaging system that shows patients what they look like before their procedures and then offers images of what the patients can expect after their surgeries. Patients stand in front of a blue screen, have their picture taken and then a 3D image is generated. Plastic surgeons can use 3D images to make desired changes to photos, showing patients what procedures can accomplish.
For many, seeing the results on the 3D versions of their images makes the choice to get plastic surgery easier as they have a better idea of what to expect.
