13.8 Million Americans Sought Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery in 2011

This week, news sources announced that in 2011, the number of Americans that had plastic surgery increased for the second year in a row. It seems that despite challenging economic times, more people are visiting plastic surgeons to get cosmetic procedures ranging from rhinoplasty to non-surgical treatments such as Botox. One source revealed that last year 13.8 million Americans underwent cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures. Compared to 2010, there was a 5% increase in the number of procedures performed.

Of the operations that occurred in 2011, it seems the most popular procedure was breast augmentation. Reports from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons indicate that 307,000 people sought breast augmentation. The second most popular procedure of 2011 was face lift surgery followed closely by liposuction, tummy tucks, and eyelid surgery. Another type of procedure that was in demand was lip augmentation. The number of people who had this type of procedure increased by 49% compared to 2010. Considering plastic surgery in California?
