The Popularity of Non-Surgical Procedures in 2013

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery recently collected and compiled data from 2013 to issue a comprehensive report of plastic surgery trends. They discovered that 11.4 million non-surgical and surgical procedures were performed in the year 2013. 83.5% of these procedures did not involve invasive surgery. 16.5% were surgical in nature.

This may be because many busy patients do not have the time to recover from a cosmetic procedure that involves surgery. As a result, they opt for injections and fillers which can enhance their appearance and have them going about their business within a day.

The top nonsurgical procedures of 2013 were:

  • Botulinum toxin type A (Botox)
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Laser hair removal
  • Microdermabrasion
  • Photo rejuvenation
