Just as a good diet is necessary for optimum health and the ideal BMI, so is a regular exercise routine. But not everyone sees the results that they want from all of their workouts.
Sometimes you can spend practically every day at the gym, but still, certain parts of your body, such as your thighs don’t show it. This can be very discouraging.
Why does this happen? It’s because sometimes the size of a person’s thighs has more to do with genetics than their diet and exercise routine. So, the next time you look at the mirror and sigh, realize that it’s not your fault and fortunately, there’s something you can do about it!
Option 1, Liposuction
If you’re in decent shape but you’re genetically predisposed to store fat in your thighs, liposuction may be a powerful way to selectively target and reduce those areas that are giving you so much trouble.
While it may have proved to be a challenge to eliminate fat deposits through diet and exercise, liposuction may be the exact procedure to solve your problems once and for all.
Dr. Yuly Gorodisky targets saddlebags using his trained eye to beautifully reshape thighs, and as a result, the procedure helps put a stop to unwanted fat from returning.
Liposuction is effective at slimming and contouring specific areas of the body. To help the patient achieve their desired results, Dr. Gorodisky selectively removes excess fat deposits by suctioning the fat through a small tube called a cannula.
Thigh liposuction can visibly improve the overall shape and curves of the hips and thighs. Sometimes, Dr. Gorodisky will treat patients who had the procedure done improperly and who require a corrective procedure. Thigh liposuction may be very unforgiving in inexperienced hands. Inner thighs may also present a problem if the skin is very lax. Even after fat removal, sometimes the skin can sag and create an unattractive shape. Those patients may need to look into option 2.
Option 2, a Thigh Lift
Though liposuction is a fantastic procedure that can dramatically improve the thighs, it’s not for every patient. If you have lost a significant amount of weight through diet and exercise or through something such as a lap band procedure, you may have an issue with skin laxity, which lipo cannot resolve.
If that is the case, Dr. Gorodisky may recommend thigh lift surgery, which improves skin laxity and cellulite; it may also help lift the buttocks area.
Most candidates for thigh lifts have lost a significant amount of weight, or they have experienced major changes in their skin tone after pregnancy and childbirth. By removing the laxity, good results may be obtained that liposuction alone cannot treat. Thigh lifts, however, are surgical procedures that usually leave permanent scars in the areas where skin has been removed.
Should you get liposuction or a thigh lift? While liposuction is easier to recover from, sometimes a patient is better-served by a thigh lift. The best way to get a definitive answer is to have a consultation with our very own Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Gorodisky.
