I'm Considering a Neck Lift

Have you found yourself envying other people's necks? At first, this may seem like a strange question but for those of you who have accumulated excess skin and fat around the neck area, we're guessing you can relate.

If your eyes glance down to people's necks and you admire how slim and sleek they are, we can almost guarantee that you're no longer satisfied with yours. The neck is one of the first places that shows the signs of aging, and it can be very frustrating when the skin on one's neck becomes lax.

You may be a man in your 50s and in great shape for your age, but your neck may be the one place on your body that doesn't look "fit." Or, you may be a woman whose neck has changed its appearance dramatically in recent years, and all you want to do is get your slim neck back.

If you have developed the "turkey wattle," you may already be considering a neck lift procedure.

With a neck lift, the appearance of the neck is greatly enhanced by tightening the skin and underlying muscles, thereby improving the aesthetics of the jawline.

Dr. Yuly Gorodisky frequently performs this procedure in conjunction with a facelift, liposuction, or a brow lift, however, sometimes it is performed as a stand-alone procedure.

Are you a candidate for a neck lift?

A neck lift does not have to be for someone who is in their 50s or 60s; it is often performed on people in their 40s as well. Patients who are younger, usually don't have a lot of skin laxity, but may have excess fat, which creates fullness and hides the true neck contours. In younger patients, laser liposuction (SlimLipo) or non-surgical Kybella injection may be performed.

You may be an ideal candidate for a neck lift if:

  • You feel that your neck is simply "too fat."
  • You have lost the jawline you had in your youth and you wish to restore it.
  • You have developed excess skin and wrinkles along your neck.
  • You have an unwelcome turkey wattle and it makes you look older than you are.

A neck lift is effective at raising and tightening loose skin and sagging tissues. If you are in good health, have realistic expectations, and you'd like to restore a youthful-looking neck, you may be a good candidate for this exciting procedure.

How long can you expect the results to last? Generally, the results of a neck lift are long-lasting so you can enjoy the "new you" for years to come!
