Facts About Facial Implants

If you watch television or movies, you’ve probably noticed how many of Hollywood’s elite seem to look unusually stunning, despite the fact that they’re reaching their 40s, 50s and beyond. As you look at pictures of these beauties in magazine you think, “She looks amazing. What has she had done?”

Some of the most popular procedures in Hollywood include Botox, dermal fillers, brow lifts, facelifts, and facial implants. You’re probably familiar with injectables and facelifts, but you may not know as much about facial implants. That said, we’re going to dedicate this post to facial implants, when they’re used and why.

About Chin Implants & Cheek Implants

Facial implants include chin implants and cheek implants; these are used for reconstructing and augmentation purposes and to rejuvenate the contours of the face. Since people’s faces vary widely in size and shape, facial implants come in many different sizes and styles to improve the proportions and contours of the face.

A lot of people opt for chin implants because they have a receding chin, and they dislike its small appearance. Some of the causes of a receding chin include:

  • Arthritis of the lower jaw bone.
  • A portion of the jaw was removed due to mandible cancer.
  • Dental problems, such as overcrowding or abnormal positions in the teeth.
  • Congenital defects, which caused a receding chin since birth.

If you have a receding chin because of genetics, arthritis, or dental problems, you may want to consider a chin implant. On the other hand, if you wish to enhance your cheeks, cheek implants may help you achieve the look you desire. Often, patients consider cheek implants when their cheeks have lost fullness due to aging, or when they simply want to “improve” their facial fullness or appearance.

Alternatives to Cheek Implants

In addition to implants, other options include fat grafting and injectable products, such as Radiesse, Sculptra, and Voluma. For patients with sunken cheeks, weak chin, or a bump on the nose, these fillers may temporarily improve the facial contours without the need for any invasive surgical procedures.
