If you’re like most people, you may have noticed that your lips don’t look as full as they did when you were younger. Or, perhaps your lips were always “thin” for society’s standards. Either way, if you’re less than satisfied with your pout, you may be considering lip fillers and we don’t blame you. They’re an excellent way to get fuller lips.
If you’ve been fortunate enough to get older, your lips have probably gotten thinner with age because volume loss is a normal part of aging. So now you’re wondering if lip fillers are all the same. Despite the popularity of lip fillers, it’s actually not a one-size-fits-all process. Of course it works, but since each patient’s lips are different, the approach varies.
Softer vs. Firmer Fillers
There is more than one product on the market and what your doctor recommends for you may be different than what he or she recommends to someone else. Some fillers are firmer, while others are softer. Some can fluff and puff, while others can define and build. So, which type is better for you? It all depends on what you’re looking for.
Your lips are unique, and everyone with thin or thinning lips has a different issue. Fortunately, there are several places that can be injected in the lips depending on the patient’s desired effect. Thanks to advances in lip injection technology and materials, you are not doomed to one specific look.
In other words, fillers are not all the same and they are not all equal. Some are better at fattening or defining a lip line than others. Before you decide on an approach, find out what you’re being injected with and if someone is suggesting silicon, please run.
“How long do lip injections last?” Unfortunately, like Botox, lip injections do not last forever. They are temporary fillers, which means you’ll need to get touch ups in order to maintain results. The popular fillers for lips include Juvederm, Belotero, and Restylane, and they all last about five to eight months on average.
