You’ve probably heard all the buzz about mommy makeovers. After all, mommy makeovers not only restore mothers’ bodies after children, but they can make mothers look better than they did before kids! It’s no wonder why they’re so popular.
Before we get into when it’s best to get a mommy makeover, we want to shed light on what mommy makeovers are exactly since there are some misconceptions about them. For starters, a “mommy makeover” does not refer to a single procedure, instead it involves a “combination” of popular surgical techniques. Second, contrary to popular belief, mommy makeovers are not all the same.
Each Procedure is Custom-Tailored
When a woman has children, her body goes through a lot of physiological changes due to pregnancy and childbirth, many of which linger permanently after the babies are born.
Since every woman’s body is different and each woman responds differently to pregnancy, mommy makeovers vary and each one is custom-tailored to fit the patient’s individual needs and goals. However, since pregnancy and breastfeeding affect the breasts and abdomen the most, the surgical approach generally targets these areas.
A mommy makeover may include any combination of a breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, tummy tuck, circumferential abdominoplasty, and liposuction. Further components may include an arm or thigh lift or a Brazilian butt lift.
Depending on the surgical plan and your board-certified surgeon’s recommendations, a mommy makeover can be performed in a single operation or it can be completed through multiple surgeries.
