Why Consider Laser Hair Removal?

Let’s face it, taking care of our body hair is a lot of work and for some people who have particularly dark or thick hair, it can be non-stop. If you’re tired of all the shaving, tweezing, or waxing, it may be time to consider laser hair removal, which can offer a permanent solution, not to mention peace of mind.

We all have to deal with unwanted hair – both men and women of all ages and of course, some more than others. From head to toe, body hair can grow on almost every body part, leading to frustration and lots of time spent shaving and tweezing. Fortunately, we have laser technology, which happens to be one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States – that is not surprising!

How Laser Hair Removal Works

With laser hair removal, a beam of highly-concentrated light is aimed directly at hair follicles. The pigment in the hair follicles absorb the light, which in effect, destroys the hair at the source where it grows. Laser hair removal can remove unwanted hairs from various parts of the body, including the face, arms, underarms, legs, back, stomach, bikini area, neck, and other areas.

Laser hair removal is quite effective. It can be used on small, delicate areas like the upper lip, and it can be used on large areas like the legs and back. What’s amazing about this procedure is that in about three to seven sessions, patients can enjoy permanent hair reduction. Can you imagine never having to shave certain areas ever again?

Whether you’re male or female, the benefits of laser hair removal can last a long time.  Some dormant hair follicles may reactivate in the future and a touchup treatment may be necessary after some time. If you have an area that is particularly bothering you, for example, if you’re a man with a hairy back, or if you’re a woman with hairy arms, laser hair removal can be the permanent solution that you’ve been dreaming of.

Preparing for Laser Hair Removal

If you decide that laser hair removal is right for you, you’ll want to prepare for your treatment. Six weeks before treatment, it’s important to limit waxing, plucking, tweezing, and electrolysis. Why? Because, laser hair removal targets the hairs’ roots, and when you pluck or wax, these roots are temporarily removed by those processes.  Hair grows in cycles and only actively growing hairs will be affected by the laser treatment, so a series of 5-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks a part may be necessary.
